Welcome to an hour long conversation/ lecture with acclaimed American photographer Amy Arbus. Arbus is based in New York, and is represented in our ICONS exhibit with the image After Jeanne, which is the cover of her book After Image, released in 2013. The book contains a series of portraits inspired by great painters such as Cezanne, David, Ingres, Modigliani and Picasso.In our conversation we will look at some of Amys most iconic images, and talk about the inspiration behind it, and the backstory to the image.

 

It is a talk about Amy's carrier, photography in general, and what image-making have meant for her personally and professionally.

 

Amy has published several books of photography, including The Fourth Wall which The New Yorker called her "masterpiece." Her work has appeared in over 100 periodicals including The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Architectural Digest, and The New York Times Magazine.

 

She is the daughter of actor Allan Arbus and photographer Diane Arbus.
