If you are a photographer looking to dip your toes into the world of writing, and experiment with different ways of combining text and image to tell a story, then this is the class for you.

The class will meet on Tuesdays, beginning September 21ST and ending on November 9TH.

1PM to 3PM (EST - New York time)

Place: Zoom - invitation will be sent to your e-mail

Levels: All levels

Each meeting will include opportunities for critique of your images with the goal to explore ways to include text to enhance the story.

You can show new work, or work you have done before. Sal will help you create tight edits of your work and have discussions around what story you are looking to tell.

There will also be time for discussion and workshopping of your writing, together with the rest of the class. We will examine sequencing of text and image to create unexpected moments in your narrative. All forms of writing are encouraged from prose to poetry.

Sal will share with the class her own books and online projects where she has used a variety of approaches to bring text and her photographs together. We will also look at other artists who successfully combine text and images.

Weekly assignments will allow you to experiment with writing poetry and prose to images and vice versa, as you tailor your creative process.

This is a class for photographers looking to experiment with incorporating writing into their creative practice in combination with their photography.

Sal is also teaching a Level 2 course, starting January 11TH, and a in person workshop at our creative center SAGA 3-8 May 2022
