THE PANEL:
Anna Clarén (SE): Clarén is the Instructor for NORDphotography's Personal Project Mentor Class (online), and has been mentoring the photographers, who's projects are under review, over the last year. Clarén is one of the most recognised Swedish photographers. Her breakthrough came with the photo series Holding (2006), where the book Holding was awarded Best Photobook in the Swedish Photo Book Prize. She has had solo exhibitions at Vãrmtlands Museum Karlstad, The House of Culture and Fotografiska in Stockholm, and at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Caen in France. Clarén's work is held in the collection of Moderna Museet in Stockholm.
Since 2006 she has also served as a Head Teacher at the Nordic Photography School (Nordens Fotoskola Biskops Arnö) in Sweden, nurturing new generations of visual storytellers.
Stig Marlon Weston (NO): Stig Marlon Weston is a Norwegian freelance photographer and visual artist based in Oslo. Westons art practice explores perception, memory and the boundary between photographic representation and abstraction. He works with analog techniques including camera-less photograms and darkroom processes to evoke the sensory experience that precedes conscious interpretation, asking “Can photographs recreate the truth, or clarify subjective interpretation?” Westons artwork has been internationally exhibited, and is in the permanent collection of the National Museum of Photography in Norway. Weston is a member of the Norwegian Association of Free Photographers (FFF), runs the CYAN studio collective, and is a co-founder of Nordic Analog Network, a darkroom exchange program supported by the Nordic Culture Point.
Lisa Giomar Hydén, Director of Exhibitions at Fotografiska Stockholm (SE): Lisa Giomar Hydén is Director of Exhibitions at Fotografiska Stockholm, where she oversees the planning, conception and installation of approximately sixteen to seventeen consecutive solo and group photography exhibitions each year. She describes her role as collaborating closely with artists and photographers to create immersive, whole-house experiences that span visual storytelling, restaurant and event programming, standing by the institution’s mission “to inspire a more conscious world”. Hydén is known for combining creative ambition with operational rigour, leading Fotografiska’s exhibition strategy while placing human stories and societal themes at the core of the visitor experience.
The talk will be moderated by NORDphotography's and SAGA's founder Elisabeth N Aanes (NO).
