ARTISTIC VISION II
From Vision to Presentation
with Connie Imboden
Period: Jan. 24th - Oct 20th 2027
This advanced mentor group is designed for photographers who have completed Artist Vision I OR have already developed a strong personal direction and are ready for the next stage.
Finding your artistic voice is only the beginning. The challenge is transforming individual photographs into a compelling body of work that communicates clearly and has the strength to stand as an exhibition, a portfolio, a publication, or a project worthy of funding.
Working closely with Connie Imboden, participants will refine, edit, and sequence their work while developing a clear strategy for presenting their projects. Through image critiques, group discussions, individual mentoring sessions, and lectures, each photographer will receive guidance tailored to their own artistic goals, ambitions, and circumstances.
Together we will explore questions such as:
-
Which images truly belong in the project?
-
How do you sequence photographs to create a meaningful visual narrative?
-
What is the project really about?
-
How should the work be presented: as an exhibition, portfolio, book, grant proposal, residency application, or something else entirely?
-
What is realistic within your budget, opportunities, and long-term vision?
This is not a one-size-fits-all course. Every participant will develop an individual roadmap that reflects their artistic vision, available resources, and professional aspirations.
Assignments are individually designed, with the emphasis on strengthening each participant's project through thoughtful editing, sequencing, presentation, and critical discussion.
The goal is for every participant to leave with a more cohesive body of work, greater clarity about their project, and a practical plan for bringing it into the world.
The class runs over 9 months with one meeting a month. There will be 6 group meetings, and 3 individual talks, where you will get a 20 minute one-on-on conversation with Connie.
