This is a program that extends over 8 months and culminates with a group exhibit at SAGA which will be part of our summer exhibit program 2021.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

This is an mentorship program for photographers and photo-entusiast looking to work on long term project, with the goal of finishing a body of work within the length of the program. The topic and the extent of your project is up to you. Lectures, discussions and critique of student work will be the structure of the program. For our creative assignments we will find inspiration in The Photographers Playbook and Julia Cameron’s beloved book The Artist Way.

Each lecture will be tailored to each participant’s project, to give inspiration and guidance for further development.

We will have 5 online meetings and 3 gatherings at SAGA. The online meetings will last for about 2,5 hours. The gatherings are 2 week-ends from Saturday to Sunday, and one mid-week from Wednesday to Friday (hanging the exhibit and exhibit opening at SAGA)

Week-end gatherings at SAGA: We start our sessions at 2PM with lecture, image critic, and creative assignments and will work all day, just breaking for dinner (dinner is not included). During the week-end, mentor Elisabeth will conduct one-on-one meeting with everyone. On Sunday, after breakfast (included) we will spend the morning looking at the result of the assignment, have a shorter lecture, then gather for lunch (included), and wrap our week end session around 1PM. On our gathering at SAGA 9-11 June, our focus is to hang the group exhibit for The Mentor Program and conduct the opening, which will be on the evening of the 10TH.

You should come to our Mentor Program with an idea of a project. It can be an old project you want to finish, or a new project you want to create. You might change your ideas during the programs course, but it is always good to have a couple of ideas from the start. Each participant are asked to show a minimum of 10 new images from their ongoing project to each group meetings for feedback and critic.

During this mentorprogram you will learn to develop a cohesive body of work, present work in a professional matter, critique other photographers work, respond to critique of your own work, and the process of planning and hanging an exhibit. NORDphotography's Mentor Program will help discover, develop or fine-tune each photographer’s creative voice.

The mentor program wraps with a group exhibition at SAGA where each participant displays a selection of images from their project. The exhibit, which is part of SAGA's Summer Exhibit will open in June 2021, and hang until mid August.

As a participant in NORDphotography's mentorship program, you receive a 20% discount on the workshop fee on all workshops that take place at SAGA in the mentor year.
