May 20, 2018 - May 25, 2018

Iceland - close to Thingvellir National Park
Tuition include shared accommodation, breakfast, lunch.
Multimedia artist and photographer Jonathan Laurence will challenge your perception of landscape photography in our Iceland adventure of 2018. You will learn to develop new ways of seeing, perceiving, and depicting the visual world, not only through your camera lens, but also through the use of post-production treatments and effects.
We will visit known landmarks in The Golden Circle area, landmarks that have been photographed countless times before, but instead of capturing the usual photographs, you will be challenged to create your own interpretation of the scenery through the use of creative treatments and presentations. Ex. how will it look if you took 10 identical image of Geysir, but gave each one a different colour treatment, or used a slow video treatment with sound, or created a grid showing different parts of Geysir. It is all about creating visual interesting images using ‘all the tools’ in the box.
You will be challenged to stretch your talent, and we urge you to be open to trying new things, and see how far you can go. You will  create multilayered images, art pieces, and photo series, that represents your artistic vision, but also is a reflection of the surrounding landscape. Our goal is for you to expand your creative muscle and test out new concepts, in addition to capturing Iceland through your camera lens.
This workshop includes curated excursions, daily discussions, lectures and post-production lab. You will also have time to go out on your own and explore sites of interest. You’ll be free to work with any camera. For our post-production lab, we will focus on the different creative apps available via tablets and smartphone. However, you are free to work with any post production program you like, but for the turn around time for this workshop we do suggest using apps, because it gives you a quicker way to a finished result. We will spent time on different way of presenting work: as single images, as a portfolio, covering the usage of collages, movement/video, music, text etc.
