METAPHORS

 in LANDSCAPE

  with Elizabeth Greenberg

DATES:

13 - 18 Oct. 2020

LOCATION:

SAGA, Inderøy, Norway

The instructor Elizabeth will, due to Covid-19 restrictions, join us digitally. The participants will join at SAGA.

On this workshop with Elizabeth Greenberg you will explore how you can tell a story of a place, a memory, an experience by using  metaphors you find in the landscape.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

Even the most familiar and ordinary places have the ability to reveal clues that point to the mysteries of the past.

This class is not about landscape photography per se, but how you can use nature as a poetic tool to narrate a personal story. We will explore how findings in the landscape can be the perfect metaphors for a human

emotion or experience. Symbols and metaphors found in the landscape can also serve as bridges between the past and the present, the ordinary and the remarkable.

With our cameras, our hearts and our minds, we will search like archeologists, to seek for evidence of hidden secrets, stories of magic, mystery, love, loss, and memories of things never seen, to create our own personal story. Allowing our imagination to play, we will mix memories, personal narrative and history to create images that transform place, projecting the landscape forward and backward in time.

There will be image critic each day, excursion to explore the surrounding landscape and creative discussion in how you can use findings in the landscape as metaphors to build a personal narrative story.
