Expand your creativity - a visual workout

Jonathan Laurence

Apr 28, 2019 - May 3, 2019

Iceland - close to Thingvellir National Park
In our creative journey to Iceland, with multimedia artist Jonathan Laurence, you will learn to develop new ways of seeing, perceiving, and depicting the visual world, not only through your camera lens, but also through the use of post-production treatments and effects.
This workshop is designed to stretch your imagination, and will challenge you to explore different approaches to your photography. Our goal is for you to expand your creative muscle and test out new concepts whilst capturing Iceland through your camera lens.
You will examine different filters, apps, and post production treatments to expand your creative tool kit and see how far you can push your images. The workshop will teach you to understand the effect of different treatments and how to use it effectively to enhance your work and artistic vision.
You will be given creative assignments to test out different effects, where we will explore the balance of creating a visually interesting image without loosing the quality of the photograph.
This workshop includes group excursions, creative and concept discussions, lectures and post-production labs. You will also have time to go out on your own to explore sites of interest. You’ll be free to work with any camera. For our post-production lab, we will focus on the different creative apps available via tablets and smartphones. You are free to work with any post production program you like, but for the turn around time of this workshop we do suggest using apps, as it gives you a quicker road to a finished product.
The workshop suits photographers working in different branches of the medium who are looking to expand their vision and stretch their creativity.
We do recommend that participant rent their own car for this workshop, either togehter with a fellow participant or on your own. We will open a Facebookgroup before the workshop start so participants can connect and team up for transportation.
Both instructors Jonathan and NORDphotography’s representative Elisabeth, have been to Iceland many times and will be able to help participants with choosing locations to visit based on their goal and visual language.
Jonathan is a multimedia designer, consultant, and educator who has worked internationally with a diverse range of companies, organizations, and individuals. He has served as Media Director to the Camden International Film Festival for more than 10 years, and also leads digital media and creativity workshops at a variety of institutions and art centers around the world. In 2014, he joined Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) as Creative Director.

Jonathan has received The Raising Star Award from the Palm Beach Photographic Center, and is listed as one of the top 60 most collectable artist in Maine.

Additionally, he gets a kick out of eating and cooking good food, travel, adventure, design, films, art, music, looking, making, assembling, learning, and generally anything positive.
